Court robots
The systems that already read the case.
Brazilian courts already read, classify and group cases with artificial-intelligence systems. The firm follows these mechanisms because they form part of the rite: digital evidence, electronic filing and assisted decision.
The use of artificial intelligence, in the Judiciary and in this firm, observes Resolution No. 615 of 11 March 2025 of the National Council of Justice, under the General Data Protection Law and, in international law, Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 of the European Parliament and of the Council, the European Union regulation on artificial intelligence. The names below are official. The list is not exhaustive.
Optical character recognition (OCR) converts the page image into searchable text. Without it, the digitised case is a photograph: the page is seen, but the text is not searched. CNJ Resolution No. 469/2022, art. 4, IV, includes among the digitisation guidelines a preference for OCR and ICR (intelligent character recognition). The Judiciary Document Digitisation Manual, a Proname instrument, distinguishes: OCR serves printed text; ICR, handwriting. Adopting OCR during digitisation is called ocerisation.
For the tool that reads the text layer, a PDF filed only as an image or below 150 dpi equals a blank page to the machine. A search for what is written returns zero characters to the robots and makes even a manual search impossible for lawyers, clerks, judges and clerks.
